CLASSIC HOMEMADE MARINARA


Once you make your own marinara you’ll never buy it again. The rich, garlicky flavor that you’re able to achieve with homemade sauce is delicious.


 

Time: 60 min.

Servings: 5 cups of sauce

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • 2 tbsp finely minced basil leaves
  • 28 oz can of crushed tomatoes
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

 

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a medium pot over medium heat. Cook onion until soft and golden, 8-10 minutes. Stir frequently.
  2. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in basil and add tomatoes. Season with sea salt and ground black pepper.
  4. Bring to a light boil and then reduce heat to a simmer.
  5. Cook on simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens - about 1 hour.
  6. Let cool and place into a jar(s). Enjoy for up to a week!
